Night of the Living Ecdysiasts on December 22nd!

by Violet 10. December 2012 07:24

CopyrightMuch talk has gone around about how thing will end. The planets come into alignment. Haley's Comet makes it's once every 75 year visit. And there were zombies because of it. Oh wait. That was that movie in 1984, wasn't it? Oh well, daddy would've gotten us uzis. There is that total global blackout that Nasa's predicting. That is so it, right? The magnetic poles of the planet will shift. The dwarf planet of Nibiru could collide with the Earth.

Nah, those are aren't it.

The zombie apocalypse is coming on December 21st, 2012.

On December 22nd, we're going to celebrate our survival the best way possible: By eating the flesh of the living!

And taking our clothes off to help the victims of frankenstorm Sandy have a better new year.

Captain Royale: A Commanding Burlesque Showdown

by Violet 20. November 2012 07:50

You've heard the arguments, I'm sure. It's something that comes up in certain geek circles. Who is the better captain; is it James T. Kirk or Jean Luc Picard? We aim to settle that little score. And then some.

Purple Devil Productions presents
Captain Royale: A Commanding Burlesque Showdown

Ten captains go in.
One captain reigns supreme.
You choose.

CopyrightWe're going to work through our captains in a bracket, pairing them off two at a time and you, the audience, select the winner.

Will it be Captain Kirk, the Final Frontier's play boy or the eternal soldier, Captain America? Will the captain of the Flying Dutchman, Davey Jones, or Captain Morgan rule the seas? Come see these fine specimens of the captain breed fight for their rank and your approval.

A night electro swing, burlesque, and dancing for you!

by Violet 18. November 2012 00:47

CopyrightThe good folks at Good Co Music are having a CD release party for their debut release, Electro Swing for the Masses on November 27th at the Can Can in Pike Place Market. Sure, the disc came out a couple of months ago but why should that stop us from a good party with swinging beats?

You might be asking yourself, "Just what is electro swing music anyway?" Imagine if you took the music of Cab Calloway, Glenn Miller, and Benny Goodman and applied house music style production techniques of looping, syncing, and samples for a start. If it's still not a clear answer, give Zebra Donkey a listen.

This party is just $5.
The doors open at 9:00pm for open dancing with a free swing dance lesson at 9:30 pm.
The band comes on stage at 10:00 pm.

If that weren't enough for you, the very lovely Whisper De Corvo and I will be bringing our fancy lady selves as a compliment to the swinging beats. It'll be a fun and sassy time.

DJ Brackenfern will be spinning the swinging tunes for us.

This is going to be a fantastic way to wind down a Tuesday night.

9 Months of Hot and Often Times Nerdy Burlesque and Belly Dance

This January, Purple Devil Productions celebrates its second birthday with the opening of its third season in Belltown's Re-Bar. Unless otherwise noted, all shows begin at 7:30 pm and the doors open at 7:00 pm.

The fun kicks off on January 5th with "Captain Royale: A Commanding Burlesque Showdown". I'm sure you've heard the passionate arguments, the heated debates, and the endless proclamation over who is the best captain of them all. We're going to answer that question and you're going to help decide.

CopyrightFebruary 9th marks the return of the Belltown Burlesque Revue in all of its glittery extravagance in this burlesque revue feature acts from some Seattle's finest performers.

Just one month later on the 9th of March, Monsters are taking over the Re-Bar. Monsters, Merkins, and Mayhem returns to Seattle, an evening where monsters of all stripes take the stage!

On April 13th, stay late for Sunday's Early Edition of the Belltown Burlesque Revue. Some may call it a late show, starting at 11:00 pm and doors opening at 10:30 pm, we consider the extra early Sunday Morning Edition. Either way, it'll be an amazing way to enter into the new week.

On star date 20130511.8 Worm Hole opens up, bringing you an evening of science-fiction inspired burlesque. See our treasures from the future or from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far way.

With the Burlesque Hall of Fame Reunion Weekend behind us, the Belltown Burlesque Revue returns on June 8th to pay tribute to those who broke ground in the burlesque scene, revere those who enable us to do what we do, and honor those legends who continue to inspire us.

June 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th mark something grand, The Worlds’s End Burlesque Revue: An evening of burlesque inspired by the works of Neil Gaiman. With such a large body of work to his credit spanning novels, comic books, movies, and television, there is no telling who might show up in this collection.

CopyrightJuly 13th marks a steampunk invasion of the Re-Bar with the return of Gears, Pasties, and other Curios. Clockwork dolls, mad scientists, and a luxurious villian. Take an evening in a past that never was.

August 10th is the last Belltown Burlesque Revue of the season. Come join us for some spectacular burlesque before it returns again in the new year.

September 14th closes out the 2013 season with a yearly staple of nerdity: NERDZ! We ask why we should limit ourselves to just one type of nerdy endeavor when we can celebrate many!

If you would like more information about any of the shows, to schedule an interview with Miss DeVille, please call 425-243-7835 or send an e-mail to

Tits for Christy: A Benefit Show

by Violet 12. September 2012 04:31

Updated: Stopped Motion Photography has set up a donation button through PayPal if you cannot attend the show but still want to help. We've added the button at the bottom of the page.

CopyrightOn July 30th, my oldest niece, Christy, was driving on U.S. Highway 287 just north of the Colorado-Wyoming border where she hit a patch of wet road after a summer storm. Her Dodge Neon hydroplaned and crossed into oncoming traffic, sliding into a semi. Her injuries were severe enough that she was air lifted to Denver Health for treatment in Colorado.

She is out of the ICU now and in rehabilitation for her severe brain injuries. She still has a long way to go.

Christy wanted to come to Seattle and explore the independent music scene and this thing called burlesque that her crazy aunt did.

With five weeks in the intensive care unit and ongoing treatment at a hospital specialized in the rehabilitation of brain injuries, her medical bills are going to be staggering.

Here's where you can help.

Go see a burlesque show.

"Nerds, like us, are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like, jump-up-and-down-and-strip-off-your-clothes-can't-control-yourself love it. When people call people nerds, mostly what they're saying is 'You like stuff.' Which is not a good insult at all. Like, 'You are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness.'"

- John Green said something like this. Sort of. We think the boobies are an added bonus.

Purple Devil Productions presents...

Epic. That's really all we can say to describe this evening of nerdy burlesque by some of the nerdiest performers around. Fantasy action and video games, Muppets and classic science fiction movies are just the tip of the iceberg of the nerdy topics that we have up our collective gloves.

Leading us in this romp is one of our favorite nerds, Violet Wilde. She'll be leading this team of explorers, celebrants, and geeks, in all things nerdy.Copyright

  • Scandal from Bohemia

This is one epic evening.

In fact, the evening is so epic we're doing twice the nerdiness over two days! First on Saturday, September 22nd, where doors open at 6:30 pm and the show is at 7:00! Then, then on Sunday, September 23rd, is an encore performance on at 6:30 pm and the doors open at 6:00 pm!

But wait, there's more! The truly fantastic gaming store Card Kingdom is joining the fun and they've assembled a prize package that only be described as amazeballs and we'll be giving one away each night as a part of our raffle. Surely, you're not going to want to miss out on this!

Tickets are $18 at the door and $15 through Brown Paper Tickets.

Update: We just added the amazing Scandal From Bohemia to the line up! We are very excited for this!

Transmission on August 3rd and 4th at Washington Hall

by Violet 30. July 2012 18:28

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this show, my lovelies! Oh my. Perhaps I should tell you at least a little bit about it, shouldn't I? Where do I start? How about with the basics?

Transmission is a showcase of transgender and genderqueer performers and artists.

On this Friday and Saturday, August 3rd and 4th, and each night is unique in its collection of acts and events. I'll be doing two different numbers across the days of the run. The over 30 artists populates this show featuring art, spoken word, film, debauchery, burlesque, and hilarity. Bringing you these pieces are the incredibly diverse and talented artists and performers from the transgender and gender queer communities of the Pacific Northwest.

Did I mention I'm sharing the stage with the likes of Neon and Leon Beige, Paris Orignal, and the Athens Boys' Choir to name but a short few? I have to go fan myself for a bit with all of this excitement if you know what I mean. I'll be right back.

So after the show comes to an end, a dance party starts. I know some of you don't dance but you're not going to want to leave the show because interspersed through the evening of dancing are more performances. How could you possibly go wrong?

Our lovely and wonderful producers, the Queer Social Club, is partnering with the Kitchen Sink Project, a fabulous little operation that bills itself as "one urbanite's mission to cultivate art, music, culture and education through food." Sounds tempting, doesn't it? But wait, there's more. The Kitchen Sink Project is creating a unique menu of small bites, tastes and cocktails; each designed to represent one of the acts or artists in the show, giving you the chance to enhance your viewing with a concessions pack and adding yet another sensational way to experience the show: Each item in the pack is a tasty culinary work of to give you a taste of each act or performer. I suspect that mine might have a black licorice taste or maybe chocolate chip cookies. I have no idea what Sully has in mind and that's kind of exciting, isn't it?

This show is 18 and over!

Washington Hall is located 153 14th Ave Seattle, WA 98122

The show will happen in the Washington Hall main stage which is located on the second floor of the building. Because the venue has no elevator, the Queer Social Club would like you to e-mail them at if you need to make arrangements to get in.

If you want to buy tickets, you can get them online from Brown Paper Tickets. General admission for either night is $15 or $25 for both nights. If you want to taste me like I know you do, be sure to get the Concession Pack for just $10 pre-ordered.

This is going to be amazing and I hope to see you there!
